The project »Café Atara. Encounters in Exile« is not a play, but an interactive re-enactment of a café scene: the Jewish émigrés Sammy Gronemann, Else Lasker-Schüler, Erich Mendelsohn, Gabriele Tergit, and Arnold Zweig used to meet at Café Atara in Jerusalem in the 1930s. Five actors and actresses portray these figures at their most important meeting place and temporary home. They engage in conversation with visitors at the tables, talk about ›their‹ lives, read from texts, answer questions and discuss.
