Josefine Luka Simonsen is a dance and performance artist moving between visual and performing arts. Josefine graduated from the Center for Contemporary Dance at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne with a bachelor’s degree and was rewarded with the CROSSOVER scholarship of the Kunstsalon Köln e.V.
In own artistic works, Josefine uses movement to research and negotiate abstract concepts like the activity of remembering and socio-political subjects. For a few years already, Josefine has been dedicated to the impact of the German reunification processes on today’s society in different artistic and sociocultural projects. As cofounder of the network Netzwerk Nachwendekinder, Josefine furthers representation and visibility for the perspectives of Nachwendekinder (born between 1987-1997 in East Germany) in workshops, on panels and as a discussion partner.
Choreographic pieces by Josefine Luka Simonsen have been shown at the international DANCE Festival Munich, Sommerblut Kulturfestival, Cheers for Fears Festival and the open stage of the Tanzwerkstatt Europa, amongst others.
