Rarely performed and absolutely worth hearing is John Adams’ Beethoven mash-up in minimal music style for string quartet and orchestra – very interesting in juxtaposition to Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony.

Description
The manic rhythms and exuberant energy of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony mesmerised the American composer John Adams. In »Absolute Jest«, he developed an intoxicating trip for orchestra and string quartet from Beethoven’s themes, among others from the Seventh. Anja Bihlmaier and her Residentie Orkest present Beethoven’s symphony alongside this Minimal Music piece – a remarkable Beethovenfest debut.
