Bonn Cathedral, also called the Cathedral Basilica, is the main Catholic church in Bonn and a landmark of the city. It was built in the 11th century as the Romanesque collegiate church of St. Cassius and Florentius of the Cassius Abbey. After the secularization of the monastery at the beginning of the 19th century and the demolition of the neighboring parish church of St. Martin in 1812, the minster came into the possession of the parish of St. Martin. Since 1956, the minster has held the title of basilica minor. Bonn Minster has been undergoing general renovation since 2017, and the interior has been open again since October 31, 2021.
