»Verklärte Nacht« op. 4, arr. by Eduard Steuermann
»Look, how brightly the universe shines!«: Richard Dehmel’s poem »Transfigured Night« inspired the young Arnold Schönberg to compose his shimmering nocturne for string sextet on the threshold of the 20st century. The piano trio version presented by the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin musicians is only rarely performed. Other nocturnal works from the 19th and 20th century round off the programme of this informal late-night concert in the Pantheon.
