Route planning with Google Maps

For eight centuries, Godesburg Castle, or more precisely its 39 metre high keep, has towered over the Rhine Valley, albeit only for three centuries in all its beauty. Construction began in 1210 and Godesburg Castle was destroyed in 1583 during the Truchsess War. In 1891, Kaiser Wilhelm II donated the ruins to the municipality of Godesberg, which established a restaurant in historicising style in 1896. In 1960, a hotel and the restaurant that still exists today were built according to plans by Gottfried Böhm. In 2006, the city of Bonn renovated the keep and a small permanent exhibition provides information about the history of the castle.

This venue is barrier-free for wheelchair users. A barrier-free toilet is available.

Arrival by car:
Coming from the north, take the A59 towards Bonn. At the Bonn-Ost triangle, take the A562 and take the B9 Bonn-Bad Godesberg exit. Godesberger Allee, then Bonner Straße, which bends to the right, and from here follow the signs to Godesburg.
Coming from the south, take the B9 towards Bonn. Follow Koblenzer Straße towards Bad Godesberg-Mitte and from here follow the signs towards Godesburg.
Disabled people can access the castle's own car park, which is located at the end of the access road to the castle, using a lift suitable for disabled people, directly from the car park over a footbridge to the entrance. For all visitors who like to keep fit, we recommend the City Terrassen car park (Villichgasse, 53177 Bonn), from where a promising climb (10 minutes) up the stairs to the castle awaits you.
