The concert at a glance
Description
The music of Henry Purcell is among the most splendid to emerge from the Baroque. This atmospheric nighttime concert features some of his ›greatest hits‹, such as »Music for a While« and »An Evening Hymn«, as well as duets from the opera »The Fairy Queen«. Works from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries serve as an evocative contrast. Tenor Jacob Lawrence, one of the most distinguished singers on the baroque scene, is joined by soprano Viola Blache, gambist Liam Byrne and harpsichordist Elina Albach. They have been working together for years on innovative baroque projects in the ensemble CONTINUUM.
