The Beethoven Spring is not merely a commemoration; it is a celebration of artistic renewal and dialogue. Over the course of two and a half weeks, we will bring together Beethoven’s seminal masterpieces with contemporary influences, cross-genre formats and outstanding international soloists and ensembles.
Look forward to the chamber music festival curated by Daniel Hope to kick off the programme, the stirring performance of the monumental Missa solemnis conducted by Dirk Kaftan, and the captivating synthesis of dance and music in Sasha Waltz’s choreography set to Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony. During the three-day Beethoven 27 focus, pianist Kit Armstrong and conductor Jan Caeyers, together with Le Concert Olympique, will continue their comprehensive re-exploration of Beethoven’s symphonies and piano concertos. In addition, you can look forward to thought-provoking insights into cultural studies from Aleida Assmann, exciting world premieres of new chamber music works, innovative experiments by the Beethovenfest Fellows, and the closing of the Beethoven by Warhol exhibition at the Beethoven-Haus.
