In addition to the photography workshop led by Nikita Teryoshin, Beethovenfest 2025 offered another photography project. This one was led by Sophia Hegewald and Lucie Schulze. The two workshops have very different focuses.
Photography Workshop
Learning from Sophia Hegewald and Lucie Schulze

A two-day workshop led by professional photographers: Sophia Hegewald and Lucie Schulze met school students from Bonn without prior experience behind the camera. What made it special was that two Beethovenfest artists were on hand as models. Not only did pianist Danae Dörken and vibraphone player Pascal Schumacher pose for photos, they also provided musical inspiration.
The workshop began with a small performance of the musicians. Inspired by these sounds, the students picked up their cameras. The challenge was to translate what they had heard into images. No easy task. The photographers demonstrated techniques involving prisms, light and unusual poses. The resulting photos are metaphorical and charged with atmosphere. The focus is less on what is depicted and more on the feelings they evoke.
On the second day, everyone viewed the photos together before Danae Dörken and Pascal Schumacher provided further musical inspiration. Then it was off to the studio. There, the students photographed the artists in professional conditions, with support from the two workshop leaders.
The results are impressive – here is a selection of the highlights. Enjoy!
