The concert at at glance

What awaits me?

A musical and literary matinee reflecting on humanity and its place in nature – with songs from the Romantic period and the present, and with a reading by Markus Gabriel.

What is special about the concert?

Markus Gabriel was a philosophy professor at the University of Bonn before becoming director of the Hamburg think tank The New Institute. He is one of the pioneers of an ethical and social reorientation in the face of climate change. Pianist Amadeus Wiesensee also studied philosophy. In the concert, musical and philosophical ideas enrich each other.

Description

»Der Mensch als Tier. Warum wir trotzdem nicht in die Natur passen« (»Humans as Animals: Why we are still strangers to nature«) – that is the title of the philosopher Markus Gabriel’s latest book. In it he considers the place of humankind in nature as he seeks answers to the crises of our time. As part of the reading, soprano Anna-Lena Elbert and pianist Amadeus Wiesensee perform art songs from the 19th century to the present day.
