»Laure Favre-Kahn is an artist whose commitment to the piano is on the same level with her sensitivity in life. She is an ardent and fragile woman: this can be heard in the music, as much by her frank attacks as by her subtle rubato, by her moving flexions as by her flawless virtuosity.« – Alain Duault
After studying at the Avignon Conservatory, Laure Favre-Kahn won a unanimous first prize in piano at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris at the age of 17, in Bruno Rigutto’s class.
Winner of the Adami Classical Revelations in 1999, she recorded her first album devoted to Schumann at the age of 20, followed by a Chopin album, for the Arion label. Since then, she has performed regularly in France and abroad, has been invited by numerous orchestras and has played in the biggest festivals.
In 2001, she won first prize at the Propiano International Competition in New York, and gave a recital at Carnegie Weill Hall the same year. Following this concert, she was named ProPiano artist of the year and recorded a Reynaldo Hahn album, critically acclaimed by the New York Times.
Since 2003, Laure Favre-Kahn has recorded eight live albums for the Transart label; the concertos of Schumann, Chopin and Tchaikovsky, three Chopin recitals, and a programme dedicated to Rachmaninov. In September 2024, her 13th album Dédicaces was released, an original programme in which 14 personalities have chosen a work that Laure has recorded.
