Anselm Dalferth is a concert organiser, director, educator and musician. Through his artistic exploration of the relationship between artists and audiences, he promotes creativity and participation. In his award-winning work, he combines staging practices from music theatre and concerts with performative and outreach approaches. To promote participation, he decided early on to develop projects for adult and young audiences on an equal footing.
He stages operas, concerts and theatre productions, designs performances, carries out participatory projects with citizens, develops plays and writes music. His versatile artistic profile has been reflected in his engagements at cultural centres in Germany and abroad for years (including the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Semperoper Dresden, the Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the Schauburg Munich, the Musikverein Vienna, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Strathmore Arts Center Washington and the Philharmonie Luxembourg).
He was the artistic director of the interdisciplinary Hörtheater at the Mainz State Theatre, the »Mara, die Mannheimer Rakete« concert series at the Mannheim National Theatre, the Sound of the City festival at the Wuppertal Opera, and the D-bü competition for students of German music academies. He has received numerous awards and nominations, and currently teaches as a professor of concert and performance at the State University of Music in Nuremberg.
