»The imperfect moment«: workshop with Nikita Teryoshin

Nikita Teryoshin has perfected his sense of the »imperfect moment« with his absurd documentary imagery. In the workshop, he will conduct visual research with the participants at the Opening Party »Clear the Stage for Beethoven«.
The workshop starts in the afternoon with a round of introductions. After a look at the participants’ portfolios, the practical part will begin in the centre of Bonn. Participants will hunt for images on seven stages – open air and in churches – and in the hustle and bustle of the Opening Party. There will be small feedback sessions in between, before the results are discussed and edited together later in the evening.
Workshop leader: Nikita Teryoshin
Nikita Teryoshin, born in St. Petersburg and based in Berlin, describes his genres as Street, Documentary & Everyday Horror. In addition to his freelance projects, he works for German and international magazines. His work has been exhibited internationally and has won numerous awards (including World Press Photo). His current work »Nothing Personal«, for which he visited 18 so-called defence fairs between 2016 and 2023 in Poland, Belarus, South Korea, Germany, France, South Africa, China, the United Arab Emirates, the USA, Peru, Russia, Vietnam and India, was also published as a photo book in 2024. In addition to his work as a photojournalist, Teryoshin teaches at the Ostkreuz School of Photography in Berlin.

Application
An application with a short letter of motivation and a selection of previous work is required. The closing date for applications is 1 August.
Participation free of charge
By applying, participants agree to make the photos they take during the workshop available to Beethovenfest Bonn for editorial reporting.
