»Symphonic density, homogeneous overall sound, chamber music intensity and emotionality« (FAZ) – these words describe the extraordinary quality of the Trio Orelon, which has established itself as one of the most exciting chamber music ensembles since its founding in Cologne in 2018.

In a very short time, the Trio has won major national and international competitions, including: First Prize and Audience Award at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, First Prize and Special Prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Melbourne, and First Prize and Special Prize at the »Schubert und die Musik der Moderne« competition in Graz.

The ensemble has also won prizes at competitions such as the Premio Trio di Trieste, ICM Pinerolo-Torino, the Schumann Competition in Frankfurt and the Mendelssohn Competition in Berlin.

The name »Orelon«, borrowed from the world language Esperanto, means »ear« and symbolises the central importance of listening in music. The trio, whose members met at the music academies of Cologne and Berlin, dedicates itself with curiosity and passion to the diversity of the piano trio repertoire. Their interpretations combine profound musical harmony with irrepressible energy and a keen sense of nuance.

Concert tours have taken the Trio to renowned venues and festivals such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Musikverein Vienna, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Pierre Boulez Saal Berlin, the Prinzregententheater Munich and the Ravenna Festival in Italy. Trio Orelon’s programmes combine classical masterpieces with lesser-known works, taking audiences on a journey into innovative thematic concert concepts.

With »Beethoven’s Daughters«, the trio has launched a pioneering project that focuses on the music of forgotten female composers. Presented in concerts, these works are placed in relation to Ludwig van Beethoven, creating a new approach to the art of female composition.

After the successful debut album with works by the American composer Amy Beach (released by Da Vinci Classics in 2022 and highly praised by the press and radio), the second album is dedicated to the composers Dora Pejačević and Amanda Maier – extraordinary women of the Romantic period who were underestimated in their lifetime and later almost forgotten.
