Cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras is coming to your school

In his programme »Roots«, cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras sets out on a musical journey of discovery: how do folk songs and dances from Hungary and Turkey sound in compositions for solo cello? How does the model of Bach’s Cello Suites blend with the Turkish musical mode system, the makam? In his concert, Jean-Guihen Queyras celebrates the timelessness of folklore and invites you and your pupils to join him.

A school visit to prepare for the concert on Tuesday, 8 September 2026 at the Beethoven-Haus is available on 7 or 8 September.

All workshops are free of charge. Participating classes can purchase discounted concert tickets for €5 per pupil.

Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Dates for the school visits will be agreed with interested teachers.
