All ultra, Hannah Baumann?

Beethovenfest Fellows are ultra by definition, but Hannah Baumann takes it to the extreme with her stunning thatre performance at the Kreuzkirche in Bonn! In this interview, we find out what makes this dramaturge and founder of theatre collective Godot Komplex even more exceptional.

What is the largest space you have ever staged in?

14,466 m² — a museum village in Hamburg.

What is the largest number of books you have read in one month?

During months of intensive research, I read six to seven books, ranging from Reclam booklets to thick handbooks.

What was the most challenging production you have staged?

Probably the collective production »Let’s Play: Connection Loading« at the Wiener Konzerthaus, which ran simultaneously in digital and analogue spaces.

How many hands have you shaken after concerts throughout your life?

Approximately 18 years on stage, at an average of 30 concerts per year and 4 hands per concert, equals 2,160 handshakes. But maybe the maths works differently...

What is the most provocative piece of theatre you have seen?

If you go by current pulse measurements, it’s probably Florentina Holzinger’s »Sancta«. I always find Elfriede Jelinek’s texts provocative and touching, and I’m looking forward to the new production »Burgtheater« at the Burgtheater Vienna this year!

Is there anything in your life that you would say you are »ultra« at?

Hopefully being empathetic!
