Description
»Beethoven’s music contains an inexhaustible wealth of information – there is nothing else quite like it,« says Alexander Melnikov. The pianist has spent his whole life immersing himself in Beethoven’s world, particularly in the piano concertos, which he enjoys performing in concert-talks and on all manner of historical or modern pianos. Here he joins forces with the new principal conductor of the WDR Symphony Orchestra: Marie Jacquot juxtaposes Beethoven’s first two piano concertos with his subtle Eighth Symphony. With this guest performance, broadcast live on Arte, the star French conductor makes her debut in Bonn.
