From the tango nuevo of Argentine nightclubs to the pulsating jazz of New York’s cellars and the traditional sounds of Romania, not to mention the sandy deserts of the future where spaceships land, the CelloFellos embark on a musical journey of discovery. They capture the most beautiful melodies and exciting grooves along the way. With virtuoso mastery and boundless creativity, they transform these into music for two cellos, or even an entire symphony orchestra. No path is too far for them and no style is too foreign.
Leo Disselhorst and Bryan Cheng are united by a long-standing friendship and a desire to transcend the boundaries of classical music. They are both internationally successful soloists and chamber musicians who follow their own individual musical paths. Since 2020, they have also been performing as a duo, exploring new worlds of sound together. Their repertoire consists exclusively of their own arrangements and compositions, which offer fresh perspectives on familiar works, combining sophistication with enthusiasm.
Since forming, the CelloFellos have thrilled audiences and critics alike with their rousing and emotional performances. Leading event organisers, festivals and orchestras in Europe have invited them to perform, including the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Heidelberg Spring Festival, the Beethovenfest Bonn, and the Kronberg and Verbier festivals. In the 2026/27 season, they will make their debut tour in Italy and then return for their second tour of Canada, following their acclaimed success there in 2025. Their long-awaited first album will be released in autumn 2026.
