The four members of the Cécile Quartett met during their studies at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf and the Folkwang Universität Essen and have been making music together in classic string quartet instrumentation ever since. The quartet performs regularly, and especially project specific, at events and celebrations in the region Köln-Düsseldorf.

Eva Sancho Potthoff is also section leader for second violins with the Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, and Mariya Mansieva is a violist with the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen.

Originally, the four musicians are from Spain (Borja), Bulgaria (Mariya) and Germany (Eva and Emanuel).
