The Bläck Fööss were founded in 1970. Since then, they have been an integral part of Cologne’s cultural scene, belonging to the city as much as the cathedral does.

The band has performed continuously for 55 years, giving 200–250 concerts per year. Over the course of half a century of musical creativity, they have released 44 albums and more than 450 songs. Their contribution to preserving the Cologne dialect is widely recognised, and many of their songs have become evergreens. Some have even achieved folk song status and have become an integral part of Cologne’s musical heritage.
