Wolfgang Klein-Richter is an extraordinary musician. After studying Catholic church music, organ and piano at the renowned Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne, he became organist at the important Romanesque basilica of St Maria im Kapitol in Cologne in 1991. In this role he has preserved the musical heritage of this historic church, while at the same time adding new impulses with his virtuoso playing. Thanks to his many years of experience and commitment, Wolfgang Klein-Richter is an important representative of church music and has established himself as a versatile musician on the music scene.
He has made a name for himself both as a soloist and as a passionate improviser, and has left his mark not only on the musical life of the region, but also far beyond. His wide-ranging concert activities include not only piano and organ, but also improvisation, choral conducting and musical accompaniment.
In 1996, Wolfgang Klein-Richter was appointed to the piano faculty at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, where he has been training the next generation of pianists and musicians with passion and dedication ever since.
