Tobias Gubesch is a musician, composer, sound designer and theatre performer from Cologne. He plays the clarinet, bass clarinet and saxophone in a variety of styles. He is a founding member of the Cologne-based ensemble electronic ID, which specialises in the interpretation of 21st century intermedia music, and the klezmer group Tovte, with whom he won the special prize at the 2019 »creole NRW« competition. In addition to classical and romantic solo, chamber music and orchestral literature, he is increasingly devoting himself to improvised music between pop, jazz and new music.
He has been pursuing his passion for children’s and youth theatre as a theatre musician for several years. He performs at the Junges Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Marabu Theatre in Bonn, among others, where he also works as a sound designer and composer. He was awarded the NRW Theatre Prize in 2018 for the production »Der Bär, der nicht da war«. Tobias Gubesch is a founding member of the collective »sowas in der art«, with which he develops theatre productions for young audiences. In 2021, this celebrated its premiere with the mobile theatre production »Sag mir erst, wie alt du bist!« premièred.
