The German soprano Simone Schneider is one of the leading interpreters of the big Strauss and Wagner repertoire. With her polished voice and expressiveness, she has proven her talents at renowned venues with roles such as Strauss’ Salome, Chrysotemis in Elektra as well as Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos. Highlights of the last season include performances in Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer at the Hamburgische Staatsoper and Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites at the Staatsoper Stuttgart.

Since 2006, she has been a permanent ensemble member and, since 2015, a chamber singer with the Staatsoper Stuttgart. Apart from her obligations in Stuttgart, Schneider has made guest appearances at important opera houses such as the Semperoper Dresden, the Opernhaus Zürich and the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. In concert, she can regularly be heard with leading orchestras such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Staatsorchester Stuttgart and the Staatskapelle Berlin. Her repertoire includes pieces by Beethoven, Mahler, Dvořák and others. She has worked with well-known conductors like Kent Nagano, Semyon Bychkov, Philippe Herreweghe, Herbert Blomsted and many others.

In the coming season, Simone Schneider can be seen again with central roles of the Wagner repertoire: At the Bayerische Staatsoper, she will play Brünnhilde in Tobias Kratzer’s new production of Wagner’s Siegfried. At the Wiener Staatsoper, she will have her role debut under Simone Young as Kundry in Wagner’s Persifal. At the Staatsoper Stuttgart, audiences will be able to see her as the field marshall in a new production of Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier.
