Simon Solberg was born in Bonn in 1979 and studied acting at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In 2005 he made his directorial debut at Schauspiel Frankfurt with »Odyssee reloaded«.

For the next two years, Solberg worked as an in-house director at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, and in the 2012/13 season as in-house director and co-head of drama at Theater Basel.

Solberg has directed over 50 plays, including at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, Schauspiel Köln, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and Staatsschauspiel Dresden.

Solberg writes plays and screenplays and designs most of his stage sets. His short film »Die Geschichte von der Geschichte«, produced in collaboration with Bayerischer Rundfunk, was shown at the 51st Hof International Film Festival in 2017.

Since the 2018/19 season, Simon Solberg has been in-house director at the Bonn Theatre, where he has directed plays such as »Unsere Welt neu denken«, »Von Mäusen und Menschen«, »Die Brüder Löwenherz«, and »Die Dreigroschenoper«.
