Rostislav Krimer is a pianist and conductor from Belarus who has lived in Bonn since 2000. After completing his music studies in Helsinki, Cologne and London, he embarked on an international career. He has performed at renowned festivals such as Aix-en-Provence, Delft, Lockenhaus, Beethovenfest Bonn and the Enescu Festival in Bucharest. Invitations have taken him to major venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, London’s Queen Elisabeth Hall and St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Krimer is highly regarded as a chamber music partner and soloist by many distinguished colleagues, including Maxim Vengerov, Natalia Gutman, Fazıl Say, Ian Bostridge and Julian Rachlin. He was a long-standing duo partner and close musical friend of the legendary pianist Paul Badura-Skoda. He has also performed extensively with Yuri Bashmet and the Moscow Soloists, and worked with renowned orchestras such as Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2015 he founded the East-West Chamber Orchestra in Bonn.
Krimer has a particular interest in contemporary music and has given several world premieres as conductor and pianist, including works dedicated to him by Bruno Mantovani, Valery Voronov, Alla Pavlova and Erkki-Sven Tüür. He has worked closely with Krzysztof Penderecki, with whom he premiered his Piano Concerto »Resurrection«. He has also worked with Sofia Gubaidulina, Gija Kancheli, Peteris Vasks and Valentin Silvestrov.
In addition to his concert activities, Rostislav Krimer has been named a Friend of UNICEF and has supported charity projects for children for many years. The annual UNICEF Gala Dinner with Rostislav Krimer & Friends is always a great success.
