Professor Lydia Grün is the president of the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. She previously taught as a professor of music education at Detmold University of Music, where she also served as deputy equal opportunities officer. From 2017 to 2021, she was an expert on the Council for Cultural Education. From 2013 to 2019, she was the managing director of Netzwerk Junge Ohren e. V., where she promoted the importance of music in a diverse society. Prior to this, she was a music consultant and deputy head of department at the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture from 2008 to 2012, as well as the managing director of Musikland Niedersachsen from 2011 onwards.
In addition to her extensive experience in teaching, cultural management and cultural policy, Prof. Grün has published numerous articles in public broadcasting. She studied musicology, journalism and communication sciences at the University of Leipzig and Humboldt University of Berlin.
