Born in New York and raised in Vienna, Nora Romanoff-Schwarzberg continues the musical tradition of her family in fourth generation. As a violist, she stands out for her thrilling artistic charisma and is in high demand as a chamber musician. She is a regular guest on international stages such as the Wiener Konzerthaus, Salle Pleyel in Paris, deSingel in Antwerp, Progetto Martha Argerich in Lugano and the Salzburger Festspiele.

Among her chamber music partners, she counts Martha Argerich, Mischa Maisky, Alexander Lonquich and Banabás Kelemen. CD recordings were made for Naxos, Gramola AVI Classics as well as for the series »Martha Argerich and Friends« of EMI und Warner Classics and have been nominated repeatedly for GRAMMY Awards. Nora Romanoff-Schwarzberg is a member of the ensemble LUX, which focuses on music of the 20th and 21st century, the »trio l’après-midi« and the AllStringsAttached Collective founded by her.

A special emphasis of her artistic work lies on the development and curation of innovative chamber music concert formats and interdisciplinary projects. She was cofounder and artistic director of the award-winning PODIUM Festival Mödling as well as the initiator of the concert series #musikbefreit, which she won the Frauenpreis »Wiedner Rosa« in the field ›culture‹ for.
