Max Andrzejewski (*1986) is a composer and improvising percussionist based in Berlin. His energetic musical work lies at the interface between contemporary art music and improvisation. A »maverick aesthete« (Süddeutsche Zeitung), Andrzejewski studied percussion at the music universities of Cologne and Berlin, before becoming a sought-after composer alongside his work as a percussionist.
He has received commissions from Acht Brücken Festival Cologne, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Beethovenfest Bonn, the Ensemble Resonanz Hamburg, Podium Festival Esslingen and the Orchester im Treppenhaus. For many years he worked as a composer with director Ersan Mondtag at the Berliner Ensemble, the Thalia Theater Hamburg, the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Basel Theater and the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin.
Andrzejewski released the album »SUMMEN« with his compositions for Ensemble Resonanz in 2025 and realised his installative music theatre »SATISFACTIONACTION« at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Beethovenfest Bonn in 2025.
He is active as an improvising drummer in the expressive band project TRAINING and has realised collaborations and several albums with the guitarists John Dieterich (guitarist of the indie rock band Deerhoof) and Ruth Goller. The band has played at many national and international festivals such as Moers Festival, Jazzfest Berlin, Eurojazz Mexico and Saalfelden Jazzfestival. With his oldest band Max Andrzejewski’s Hütte, he has released five albums since 2012 and won the New German Jazz Award in 2013.
