Born near Cologne in 1988, Lisa Maria Schumann received her first violin lessons at the age of four. From the age of eight she studied for 17 years in the class of Prof. Zakhar Bron, first in Lübeck and later in Cologne. She went on to study with Prof Daniel Sepec in Basel and Lübeck. Numerous master classes around the world have enriched her as an artist. She now regularly passes on her knowledge in master classes at home and abroad.
Lisa Maria Schumann has won many competitions. Concert tours have taken her throughout Europe and Japan. She regularly performs at venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and the Philharmonie Köln and is invited to festivals such as Heidelberger Frühling, Musiktage Mondsee and Beethovenfest Bonn. Solo performances with orchestra include violin concertos by Bach, Beethoven, Kabalevsky, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Saint-Saëns, Spohr, Szymanovski and Vieuxtemps.
As a former member of the Schumann Quartet, the String Quartet plays a special role in her chamber music activities. She maintains long-standing artistic relationships with the Amaryllis Quartet and the Auryn Quartet. Other chamber music partners include Viviane Hagner, Erik Schumann, Diemut Poppen and Benedict Klöckner.
Lisa Maria Schumann has been concertmaster of the Hamburg Camerata since 2020. She is a regular guest concertmaster with orchestras in Germany, including the Kölner Kammerorchester, EnsembleRuhr, Neues Rheinisches Kammerorchester, Folkwang Kammerorchester Essen, Amadeus Ensemble Bonn, Kölner Kammersymphoniker and the Düsseldorf Festival Orchestra.
Lisa Maria Schumann plays a violin by Ferdinando Gagliano (Naples 1795) and a violin by Michael Betcher (Nuremberg 2022).
