Described by the press as »an exceptional phenomenon with a very strong personality of her own«, Katharina Hack performs in Europe and the USA. The pianist has a particular love for the music of Frédéric Chopin. As a soloist, she has performed at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Cologne Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus Dortmund. She has made radio recordings for WDR, NDR and Medici.tv. She has performed at festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Beethovenfest Bonn and Engadin Festival. Katharina Hack studied with Gabriela Montero, Ilja Scheps and Konstanze Eickhorst and is currently studying for her concert exam with Bernd Glemser. Other important sources of inspiration have been Bernd Goetzke, Margit Haider-Dechant, Andrej Jaszinski and Sir András Schiff.
This season she made her debut with the Hauptstadt-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under Tess Jackson in Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie, gave a recital of Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto in Husum, performed a recital programme in over ten cities and played live on NDR Extra. Duo recitals have taken her throughout Germany, to France and to the Stadtcasino Basel as part of the »Rising Stars« series. In autumn, Katharina Hack will perform Chopin’s First Piano Concerto at the Cologne Philharmonie.
Katharina forms a permanent duo with cellist Anouchka Hack; their debut CD was nominated for an Opus Klassik prize. Their current album »Alle Menschen werden Schwestern«, recorded in collaboration with Deutschlandfunk on the Berlin Classics label, has been acclaimed by the music press and public alike. Together with Anouchka Hack, Katharina Hack is the artistic director of the meetMUSIC festival in Mettingen.
