Joosten Ellée (born 1992) is a violinist and has been the artistic director of PODIUM Esslingen since 2021. He is a co-founder and concertmaster of ensemble reflektor, as well as a member of the Rothko String Quartet. As a guest concertmaster, he has conducted ensembles such as the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and the Estonian National Orchestra in Tallinn. His musical activities range from exploring historical performance practice of the early Baroque period, through the realisation of numerous world premieres, to the composition of electronic music.

At PODIUM, Joosten Ellée realises projects that explore the boundaries of the concert and engage with diversity, participation and politics. These include projects funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation, such as the TikTok opera OK Tannhäuser, the research, composition and concert project Sieben Letzte Worte – Kein Erlöser am Kreuz (»Seven Last Words – No Saviour on the Cross«), as well as numerous special projects supported by »tuned – Network for Contemporary Classical Music«. In 2024, he realised Anthropologie des Wassers (»Anthropology of Water«), a staged project which he directed himself. Further staged works followed in 2026, including a production with director Frieda Lange at the Ruhrtriennale.
