Grigory Alumyan was born 1975 in a famous music family in Moscow. After his graduation from the Central music school (College) at the Tchaikovsky Moscow state Conservatory for high talented children he moved to Germany to continue his education at the Musikhochschule Karsruhe with Professor Martin Ostertag. Consequently he received at his disposal the Giovanni-Grancino-Cello from the State of Baden-Württemberg.
Grigory Alumyan is a first place recipient at UNISA International Music Competition in Pretoria, at Swedish International Duo Competition and at Chamber Competition of Culture Foundation of Baden. furthermore he has won prizes at International instrumental competition Markneukirchen and at International Web Concert Hall Competition.
Since his study in Moscow, Grigory Alumyan has regularly given festival performances in Russia, Europe and overseas, among others, at festivals like Moscow autumn, Wörtersee Classics, Beethoven Festival Bonn, Radeberg Concerts Cologne, Martha Argerich and Friends (Buenos Aires), as well as at Schwetzinger Festival and at Flanders Festival. He played in the Big Hall of Moscow state Conservatory, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, in various German concert halls, like Concert house Karlsruhe, Beethoven hall Bonn, Lieder Hall Stuttgart and in Weinbrennersaal Baden-Baden. His solo and chamber music activity brought him furthermore to the Concert house Vienna, Conservatoire National de Région de Rouen, to Oji Hall Tokio, to Rio de Janeiro, to the Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, as well as City Hall Kapstadt and Linder Auditorium Johannesburg.
Grigory Alumyan is a permanent guest soloist of numerous orchestras, like Moscow Symphony Orchestra, Baden-Baden Philharmonic, Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, Collegium Musicum Carinthia, Orchestra of the European Cultural Association, Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra Johannesburg, Vogtland Philharmonic and Württemberg Philharmonic Reutlingen.
Grigory Alumyan cooperated with many chamber musicians, among others Ulf Holscher, Priya Mitchell, Wolfgang Meyer, Albrecht Breuninger, Christian Zacharias, Mikhail Bezverkhny, Yuzuko Horigome, Gabriela Montero, Nicholas Angelich and Martha Argerich.
Wherever Grigory Alumyan performs, he receives enthusiastic approval from the critics. For example the Rheinpfalz acknowledges his »outstanding niveau« and praises his »light-footed, graceful playing«. The Badische Neueste Nachrichten praises his technical precision, his »beguiling tone quality« and the »internalized structure« of his performances.
Since 2004 Grigory Alumyan is a Solo-Cellist of Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, as well as a founding member of Beethoven Trio Bonn, with many impressive performances in Germany and on the international stages.
