The violinist Franziska Hölscher is one of the most versatile young musicians on today’s international music scene. She has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician and festival director at the Berlin Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and the Vienna Konzerthaus. She performs at the Bregenz Festival, the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Schwetzingen SWR Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival and the Heidelberg Spring.
Franziska Hölscher is passionately committed to the works of 20th- and 21st-century composers. The world premiere of Wolfgang Rihm’s Concertino for Violin and Strings is just one example of this. At the same time, she regularly bridges the gap to Baroque compositions, to which she consistently brings fresh interpretations thanks to her flair for the new. This can be experienced in her collaboration with the recorder player Dorothee Oberlinger and the conductor Reinhard Goebel.
From the very start of her career, chamber music has also held a firm place in her repertoire. Since her debut with Martha Argerich, her collaborators have included Kit Armstrong, Martin Helmchen, Nils Mönkemeyer, Maximilian Hornung and Benjamin Appl, amongst others. She forms a trio with Claire Huangci and Harriet Krijgh.
She shared an artistic friendship with the author Roger Willemsen. He was responsible for the creation of various programmes which Franziska Hölscher and the pianist Marianna Shirinyan present together with the outstanding actresses Maria Schrader and Katja Riemann.
Franziska Hölscher is the artistic director of the chamber music series Klangbrücken at the Konzerthaus Berlin, which she founded with Severin von Eckardstein in 2014. Together with Kit Armstrong, she took over the artistic direction of the Musiktage Feldafing in 2021. Since 2022, she has been the artistic director of the music festival Fränkischer Sommer.
