Elīna Viļuma-Helling, a singer from Latvia, made her solo debut at the Vienna Konzerthaus in January 2024, performing with the Klangforum Wien under the direction of conductor and composer Beat Furrer. In April 2025, she appeared at the Zurich Opera House in the world premiere of Furrer’s »Das grosse Feuer« (The Great Fire).
After graduating from the Riga Cathedral Choir School, she moved to Graz to study jazz singing and composition. It was during these studies that she developed a great love for contemporary music. Since then, she has felt at home with improvisation and contemporary music.
Since 2018, she has been a soprano with Cantando Admont, a vocal ensemble specialising in early and contemporary music based in Vienna. With this ensemble, she has performed at the Salzburg Festival, Zeiträume Basel, Musikfestival Bern, Klangspuren Schwaz, the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Munich Biennale, the Onassis Cultural Centre in Athens, the Teatro São Luiz in Lisbon, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, among others.
