Dominik Heidl was born in Vilsbiburg in 1997. After finishing school, he attended the vocational school for music in Plattling, graduating with distinction. During this time, he took piano lessons from the artist and pianist Hildegard Schwammberger. From 2015, he continued his training, studying in the piano class of pianist and composer Franz Vorraber at the Wiesbaden Academy of Music, where he completed his studies in 2019.
Dominik Heidl honed his skills through masterclasses that took him to various locations across Europe. From 2020, he continued his training in Prof. Wiebke Weidanz’s harpsichord class at the Nuremberg University of Music. He is also developing his skills on the fortepiano under the guidance of Prof. Dr Aurelia Visovan.
A significant achievement in his career was the founding of the Nürnberg Barock orchestra in 2023, in collaboration with musicians from Nuremberg and the surrounding area.
In March 2023, Dominik Heidl reached the final of the Hugo Competition in Vorarlberg and took second place. In May of the same year, he and his ensemble Barock_Plus won first prize at the International Handel Competition in Göttingen. This award led to radio interviews and a concert recording with NDR for television and radio. His run of success continued when, in August 2023, he and his ensemble Barock_Plus once again won second prize at the Biagio Marini Competition in Neuburg an der Donau. He and his ensemble also won a scholarship from the German Music Competition, thereby gaining admission to the German Music Council’s concert promotion scheme.
