Born in Allgäu, Germany, mezzo-soprano Caroline Schnitzer studied classical singing at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. She studied with Prof. Renate Faltin, Sami Kastologlu, Prof. Julia Varady, Prof. Thomas Quasthoff and Wolfram Rieger. She was further inspired by master classes with Prof Brigitte Fassbaender and Carola Guber.
As a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Initiative Live Music Now Berlin e. V., the Richard Wagner Association Berlin Brandenburg and the Keller-Buddenberg Foundation, she received extensive support. She has won prizes at the Internationale Sächsische Sängerakademie and the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg.
Caroline Schnitzer has celebrated stage successes at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Neuköllner Oper Berlin, the Nationaltheater Weimar and the Lausitz Festival.
In 2018, Caroline Schnitzer and fellow students founded the Berlin collective for contemporary oper*ette: tutti d*amore. Here she finds space for her own creative vision of musical theatre and wants to use her voice and acting skills to make classical singing accessible to new audiences in unconventional venues. With tutti d*amore she is not only active as a singer and performer, but is also involved in the artistic conception and production.
She is also part of the project Veronika Ferrari & Die Flammen that has made it their mission to bring classical art song, German chansons and the best hits to club culture. Supplemented by their own gems, they also inspire in concert halls.
While working as a freelance artist, Caroline Schnitzer studied music education at the Berlin University of the Arts. She is also a passionate music teacher in Berlin schools and institutions.
