Bruna Cabral, born in Belém do Pará (Brazil), is a Cologne-based multi-instrumentalist and composer specialising in drums and percussion/vibraphone. Bruna completed her BA in percussion at the Universidade do Estado do Pará in Belém. She obtained a Master’s degree in Professional Performance–- Percussion at the Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen. She covers a broad spectrum of different genres and sub-genres (classical, jazz, pop) and participates in various music, dance, theatre and film projects.
She is co-founder of the CUMA collective, which won the Folkwang Prize 2021 and the Mittelyoung Music Prize (Italy) 2022 with the production »Vacation from Love« (2021).
Under the label Spacecow Music (Brazil), Bruna Cabral released the album »Aero« in 2021, which contains the soundtrack to the physical theatre play of the same name. Her solo album »Mana« is divided into three acts, the first of which was released in 2023. It tells the story of Mana in a cinematic-musical mixed genre narrative that combines instrumental pieces and spoken word poetry with synthesiser sounds, acoustic instruments and traditional Brazilian rhythms.
