Azra Zürn has been councillor of the federal city of Bonn since 2025 and is the head of Department for Children, Youth, Family, Schools, Social Affairs, and Housing. She has a master’s degree in Social Inclusion, Health and Education and is a graduate in Social Pedagogy as well as Social Work. Her years of professional experience include occupations in social work, municipal administration and managerial responsibilities.
Her career began with the job centre. Further specialist and managerial tasks followed, among them with the workers’ welfare union, before she took on the management of the youth welfare and social security office of the city of Rheinberg. Subsequently, she was in charge of the municipal EWIBO GmbH in Bocholt as the sole general manager, where she led a broad spectrum of social services as well as an extensive real estate portfolio in the social housing market.
Apart from her municipal occupation, Azra Zürn teaches in the field of Social Work at a private university and contributes her years of practical experience to the education of future qualified personnel. She is married, mother to two children and lives in Bonn.
