Andreas Heise studied dance at the Palucca Hochschule für Tanz Dresden. He began his career as a dancer in 1998 with the Leipziger Ballett and continued from 2003 on as a soloist with the Norwegian National Ballet in Oslo.

Since 2006, Andreas has been choreographing regularly for the Norwegian National Ballet. In 2015, he gave his debut in the United Kingdom as Assistant Director and Choreographer in Paul Curran’s production of Britten’s Death in Venice at the Garsington Opera. Furthermore, he has created works for the Ballett Koblenz, the Salzburger Festspiele, the Stuttgarter Ballett, the Staatsballett Berlin as well as the Ballett Graz, amongst others. He had his debut as a director and choreographer in 2019 at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet with his production of Dido and Aeneas. In 2025, Andreas was director and choreographer of the evening KaiserRequiem with the Wiener Staatsballett as well as soloists and the choir of the Volksoper Wien under the musical direction of Omer Meir Wellber.

Andreas Heise develops projects for international stages in which dance, voice and music interweave seamlessly. Additionally, he is engaged in community projects – so for example in 2023 with a project in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg as well as with the interdisciplinary project Migrantenexpress, which professional artists and non-professional participants take part in.
