Mellow and breezy, resonant and incisive – it’s hard to believe how splendidly the saxophone and accordion blend together.

Description
After-work concert in the Kreuzkirche: One hour of enjoyable music with a charming mix of Baroque, Romantic, and modern with an unconventional instrumentation. In the Duo Anemos, Slovenian saxophonist Anže Rupnik and Serbian accordionist Marko Trivunović join forces. Their ingenious arrangements are tailor-made for themselves – particularly relishing the penetrating and supple sound of the soprano saxophone. Piano sonatas by Scarlatti, violin works by C. P. E. Bach and Lili Boulanger, and Manuel de Falla’s popular song cycle with its Spanish folk style: the spectrum is truly wide. The only original work for their instruments is José María Sánchez-Verdú’s »Dhamar«. This contemporary piece plays with the air flow in the saxophone and the bellows of the accordion, merging both into a mysterious whole.
