Route planning with Google Maps

The ship Aalschokker Aranka is a floating monument, landmark and museum. It is moored in the old arm of the Rhine with a view of the Drachenfels in Bad Honnef. Built in 1917, the ship was due to be sold in 1990 because fishing was no longer profitable due to several environmental disasters and constantly increasing shipping traffic. Thanks to donations from committed citizens and additional funding from the LVR and the NRW Foundation, the ship was purchased and restored. Today, the history of the Aranka and eel fishing can be traced in a small museum in the cabin below deck.

Accessibility

The venue is not barrier-free for wheelchair users.
