Description
Aaron Schröer approaches our festival theme »Home« from a distance. The heart of his recital is his own arrangement of Beethoven’s song cycle An die ferne Geliebte (»To the distant beloved«), addressed to a mysterious woman. It will be heard alongside two Romantic cello sonatas full of emotion and yearning for faraway places. Luise Adolpha Le Beau composed her piece in 1878 despite the prejudices against female composers. Frédéric Chopin adopted France as his home country, and his music reveals his longing for his Polish homeland, which he lost as a young man.
