Hailing from Buenos Aires, bandoneonist and composer Omar Massa is celebrated by the international press as the »successor to Astor Piazzolla« (Crescendo, Pizzicato).
He has performed in prestigious venues including the Lincoln Center in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, the Teatro Nacional La Castellana in Bogotá, and the Berlin Philharmonie. He has also performed at renowned festivals such as the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and the Rheingau Music Festival.
As a soloist, he has performed in America and Europe with orchestras including the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires, among many others. In 2025, he opened the MDR Musiksommer in Chemnitz with the MDR Symphony Orchestra. The Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs has classified Massa’s tours abroad as »of cultural and artistic significance for Argentina«.
He regularly collaborates with renowned artists such as Alondra de la Parra, Guy Braunstein, Fatma Said, Daniel Hope, Jonas Kaufmann, and Anastasia Kobekina.
Omar Massa began piano lessons at the age of five. Two years later, he debuted with music by Astor Piazzolla at Café Tortoni, a traditional Buenos Aires coffee house known for its cultural events. At the age of twelve, he entered the Conservatorio Nacional de Música, where he studied composition, among other subjects.
