Growing up on the island of La Réunion (France), Marie Bourgeois was a curious sportsperson before she was a dancer. In an environment where people live outdoors, she practices activities that connect her to the forces of nature, such as surfing and swimming.
She continued with gymnastics and dance at the Conservatoire régional (France). In 2011, she applied to the University of Lyon, where she began a degree in Life Sciences and continued to dance wherever she could at the same time.
Two years later, she moved to Leeds (England) to train at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. There she met Hagit Yakira, Joss Arnott and Kevin Turner, who co-directs Company Chameleon, and with whom she apprenticed after graduation. She continues to learn new practices such as capoeira, climbing, singing ...
It was in January 2017 that meeting Yoann Bourgeois led her back to France to join his company, initially for a reprise of a role in the show »Celui qui tombe«. Since then, they have shared many creative adventures together: she is a performer in several shows (»Requiem [fragments]«, »Minuit«, »Ophélie«, »Hourvari«), she assists and sometimes co-writes with Yoann in his creations, or commissions works for international companies (Göteborgsoperan, Nederlands Dans Theater) or in his collaborations with famous musical artists (Coldplay, Harry Styles, Pomme ...).
