Zora Slokar

Zora Slokar was born in Switzerland and initially studied violin at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern. Only later did she discover the horn, began her studies with Erich Penzel and received her soloist diploma in Zurich in Radovan Vlatkovic’s class. She was laureate at the Anemos and Ceccarossi competition Italy and finalist at the Paxman competition London. Furthermore, she was awarded the Kiwanis advancement award Zurich and was a scholar of the Villa Musica as of the Migros-Kulturprozent.

As a soloist, Zora Slokar has perfomred with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra Moscow, the Chamber Orchestra Genf, the TV/Radio Orchestra Ljubljana, the Zagreb soloists, the Istanbul Devlet Orchestra and many more.

Zora Slokar is a passionate chamber musician and guested at the Lockenhaus Festival, the Mondsee Musiktage, the December Nights Moscow as well as the Kronberg Festival and has performed with Gidon Kremer, Martha Argerich, and Eduard Brunner, among other.

Zora Slokar is principal hornist at the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana and has transferred in the same position to the Deutsches-Symphonie Orchester Berlin in 2018.
