Sara Gouzy studied with Janet Williams and Michail Lanskoi at the Musikhochschule ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin, where she completed a Master’s degree in 2017, and with Susan McCulloch at the Guildhall School of Music, London. In 2018 she won second prize and the Song prize at the Antonio Bertolini singing competition in Milan and was a finalist in the competition Tito dal Monte in Treviso. In 2019 she is prizewinner of the Singing Competition Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg. She will perform the leading female role in their next opera production this summer as Orazia in ‘Gli Orazi e i Curiazi’ (D. Cimarosa).
In 2010, she sang her first role, Clotilde (‘Pollicino’, H.W Henze), at the Weimar Opera House and in 2014 sang Sandrina (‘La Finta Giardiniera’, Mozart) and Rotkäppchen (‘Das neue Rotkäppchen’, Su-un Lee) in Deutsche Oper Berlin. Since then she has performed the roles of Flaminia in ‘Il mondo della luna’ (Haydn) at Kammeroper Munich, Amore in ‘Orfeo ed Euridice’ at Opera de Dijon, Annina in ‘La Traviata’ and Despina in ‘Cosi Fan Tutte’ at Sunny Bank Mill Leeds, Barbarina in ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ and Soeur Constance in ‘Le Dialogue des Carmélites’ at Grand Opéra d'Avignon.
The soprano Sara Gouzy is very active as a concert singer. She has been invited to prestigious festivals and venues such as Cully Classique (Switzerland), Three centuries of classic romances St Petersburg (Russia), the Kissinger Sommer (Germany), the Barbican Center, the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Moscow International Performing Arts Center. Her predilection for music of the 17th and 18th century led up to work with Christophe Rousset, Luke Green, Sandrine Piau and Andreas Scholl. She sang Bach Cantates with the Alte Akademie Orchester Vorpommern (Germany) and the ‘Stabat Mater’ of Pergolesi with Impulsia Ensemble in Berlin and has also performed the ‘Oratorio de Noel’ of Saint-Saëns with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Among further engagements Yniold in ‘Pelleas et Melisandre’ at Opéra de Dijon, Jano in ‘Jenufa’ and Yniold in ‘Pelléas et Mélisande’ at Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse.
