Innsbrucker Festwochenorchester

The Innsbrucker Festwochenorchester was founded in 2018 by Alessandro De Marchi with the idea to unite internationally experienced, accomplished and passionate musicians of the historical performance practice for productions of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. Thereby, instrumentalists are chosen based on the stylistic criteria of the respective production.

For ‘Merope’ the Bulgarian violinist Plamena Nikitassova was able to be acquired as concertmaster. She is a former student of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at leading musical institutions and has, as the first violinist, led outstanding ensembles of early music such as the Freiburger Barockorchester. At this year’s festival, the Innsbrucker Festwochenorchester can be seen with a performance of Händel’s oratorio ‘Il Trionfo del tempo e del disinganno’ and will accompany as a smaller group the vocal soloists in the ‘Gala der Sieger’ concert.
