Enrico Pace was born in Rimini, Italy. He studied piano at the Rossini Conservatory, Pesaro, and later at the Accademia Pianistica Incontri col Maestro, Imola.
Winning the Utrecht International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in 1989 marked the beginning of his international career. He has performed with many major orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the Bamberger Symphoniker, or the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra performing in major concert halls throughout Europe, the Americas, China, Korea and Japan
Enrico Pace enjoys on-going partnerships with violinists Leonidas Kavakos, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Akiko Suwanai and Liza Ferschtman. Other chamber music partners include cellist Daniel Müller-Schott, clarinetist Sharon Kam, pianist Igor Roma and horn player Marie Luise Neunecker. He regularly participates in chamber music festivals.
Recent highlights with tours around the world’s renowned musical venues include a Beethoven Sonata cycle with violinist Leonidas Kavakos including three concerts at the Beethovenfest Bonn in 2014, performances of the Bach Sonatas with Frank Peter Zimmermann Schubert’s »Schwanengesang« with Matthias Goerne.
Among his many recordings for major labels the complete Beethoven Sonatas for piano and violin with Leonidas Kavakos (released in January 2013) was nominated for a Grammy Award. In 2016 a CD of the duo performing virtuoso encore works has been released. Enrico Pace and Frank Peter Zimmermann recorded the Busoni violin sonata no. 2 and the six Sonatas for violin and piano by Johann Sebastian Bach. In 2011 his highly praised solo recording of Franz Liszt’s »Années de pèlerinage« (»Suisse« and »Italie«) has been published.
