Dshamilja Kaiser

Dshamilja Kaiser has been a permanent ensemble member at the Theater Bonn since the 2017/18 season. She celebrated great successes there during her first season as Carmen, and as Penthesilea in the eponymous opera by Othmar Schoeck. In September 2018 her nomination for the German theatre prize ‘Der Faust’ 2018 in the category ‘best female singer-actor musical theatre’ for Penthesilea was made public.

From November 2018 the mezzo soprano will perform as Ortrud in Lohengrin in a new production by Marco Arturo Marelli at her home venue. A guest performance took the singer to the Den Norske Opera in Oslo in early 2018, when she performed the role of Adalgisa in Norma.

Between 2009 and 2017 Dshamilja Kaiser was a member of the ensemble of Oper Graz. In 2014 she made her debut at the Volksoper in Vienna in the role of Carmen. She was also a guest at the Wiener Festwochen in the Theater an der Wien and at the Festspiele Klosterneuburg. In the summer of 2016 she made her celebrated debut at the Bregenz Festspiele in the opera Amleto by Franco Faccio, in the role of La Regina Gertrude.

Many concerts in Germany and other countries have rounded off her artistic work: Dshamilja Kaiser performed for the first time with the Grazer Philharmonisches Orchester in November 2013. Under the direction of Dirk Kaftan they performed Hector Berlioz’s ‘Les nuits d’été’ in the Wiener Musikverein.

Born in Wuppertal, Dshamilja Kaiser began her degree at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold under Mechthild Böhme and Caroline Thomas. At the same time she worked with the artists Patricia McCaffrey, Abbie Furmansky, Brigitte Fassbaender and Christa Ludwig. While she was still completing her degree she joined the ensemble at the Theater Bielefeld, where she was able to develop a broad repertoire.

In the summer of 2006 she was awarded a scholarship from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the Richard-Wagner-Stiftung. In 2005 she won the Landeswettbewerb Gesang in Düsseldorf and in 2008 the Bergheimer Sängerpreis.

Dshamilja Kaiser is also a recipient of the ‘Österreichischer Musiktheaterpreis 2015’ in the category ‘best young female singer’.
