Beethovenfest 2022: rich, diverse and full of new discoveries and inspiring encounters. Never before has Beethovenfest been so adventurous, so unusual. At the same time, Beethoven's music appeared in 22 of the 70 concerts of the main programme – no composer is more central for the festival than the Viennese classic from Bonn.
But what happens, when Beethoven's fifth symphony meets Rap and Breakdance by young artists from South America? How do we approach the cosmos of Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas, if we discover them through a musical escape room? What changes when listeners hear the Eroica symphony seated amongst the musicians of the orchestra? And when an orchestra plays the Pastoral symphony without a conductor?
After three and a half weeks we can say: Unimagined musical moments are created, unforeseen resonances and exhilerating, real experiences arise.
